Five on Friday - Birthday Book Spree Edition

Today I'm linking up with Carolina Charm and By BMG.

It's my birthday today, and I'm about to leave the house to do birthday-ish things, so I'm cheating a little bit today and only doing 3 things for my Five on Friday post.

1. I have a really fun birthday tradition (that I'll tell you about in a minute) and I'm having so much fun with it, that I decided to start another new tradition this year. Starting in June, I didn't open any of the books I ordered online. I stacked the boxes up and I waited until today to open them. They're my birthday present to myself.

2. I have a really fun birthday tradition that I've been doing for a few years now. I go on a Birthday Book Spree! A Birthday Book Spree (and yes, it needs to be capitalized as if it's a national holiday) is a shopping spree where all I buy is books. I spend the day going from bookstore to bookstore. But this is going to be my most ambitious book spree yet. Normally my book spree lasts for 1 day and I go to 3 or 4 bookstores. But this year I've expanded it to 2 days and I'm going to 7 bookstores (possibly 8, if time allows.) It's going to be a two day, two state book spree (this is not as dramatic as it sounds - I live really close to the state line.) But I still like the drama of saying "I'm going on a two day, two state book spree."

3. I would love for you to be a part of my Birthday Book Spree, so I'm doing a book giveaway. Please leave a comment at the end of this post with your guess of how many books you think I'll buy on my Book Spree. The person who gets the closest will win 2 books and the person with the second closest guess will win 1 book. I'll be posting the final Book Spree tally (along with pictures of the books I bought) on Monday morning. I'll be taking guesses until 10 am on Monday morning. (Note: the books that I'm opening as my birthday present to myself are not going to be included in my final Book Spree tally.)

I hope your Friday is as wonderful as mine is about to be.

  3. What a fabulously fun way to spend a birthday! This is an idea I may steal. Given the price of books (unless you're hitting a great sale), I'm going to guess 15 books.

    1. A lot of the bookstores I went to were used book stores, so I did get some good deals!

  6. What an awesome idea! I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I used to LOVE reading, but my two English degrees kind of took the fun out of it. :-/ I hope to be able to read for fun again eventually!
