Five Things I'm Loving Right Now

Today I'm linking up with Smidge Of This for Five on Friday and KTCupofTea for High 5 on Friday.

I've had a very busy week because I started a reading challenge on Monday. I'm going to read 100,000 pages in 1 year. I'm going to be blogging about the challenge twice a week, and I hope you'll follow along on my journey (Am I the only one who feels like they're on The Bachelor when they use the word journey?)

Despite my busy reading week, I still had time to enjoy the 5 things I'm loving right now:

1.

I discovered this candy bar while waiting in line at Meijer. For those of you who live in a different part of the country, Meijer is a superstore. It's not as fun as Target, but my local Meijer has a good selection of food for people with food allergies & intolerances.

(Note: this doesn't list dairy in the ingredient list, but it has a warning that it may contain traces of dairy or wheat. My problem is technically an intolerance and not a true allergy, so I can still eat this. If you're truly allergic, you might not be able to handle it.)

2.

I tried this soap at my sister's house and loved it so much that I went out and bought tons of it, along with the cleaning spray and dishwashing soap. . . and then I got home and realized I bought so much that I couldn't fit them all in the cabinet I normally store this kind of stuff in. Oops.

3.

As you can see, I love this knife so much I own two of them. I have an expensive Chef's knife, and I love it. But I'm lazy and I hate having to hand wash it, so I like to keep a smaller knife around that can go in the dishwasher for smaller jobs. I bought this knife at Crate & Barrel for 10 dollars. And I love it so much that I bought a second one and talked my sister into buying one.

4. Last year, I read The Wilder Life by Wendy McClure and I loved it so much that I wrote a blog entry about it.  Then I discovered that she has a twitter page where she pretends to be Laura Ingalls Wilder and it became my favorite twitter page ever!

If you enjoy Laura Ingalls Wilder, you'll love this twitter page. It's so funny!

5. I've been searching for several years for a salad dressing that doesn't contain anything that I'm intolerant to (dairy, eggs, wheat) and I haven't found anything that I really like. I've tried so many gross ones in my quest, and a few others that were okay but not great. And then one magical day I found this salad dressing:

It's really good. And it has less sugar than a lot of other commercial salad dressings.

I'd love to hear about your favorite things. What have you been loving lately?

  1. I love Meyer products, too. The Basil scent is one of my favorites, though I also adore the Lavender-scented foaming hand wash.

I wanted to try making my own foaming hand wash using essential oils, but the Meyer brand only costs $3. :-)

    1. I haven't tried the Basil scent yet. I'm still trying to use up the Apple Cider scent because I bought WAY too much of it!

  4. A good knife is the best! I have two that I use constantly, my husband always has to sharpen them lol That chocolate looks delicious. I haven't been craving much chocolate while pregnant, but I know I will again soon :)

  5. Meijer! Yes! I've never been (they're not around here), but I saw them when I was out in the midwest and was so intrigued! Yay for a dressing that isn't terrible!

  7. Wow! 100,000 pages sounds like quite the challenge! That chocolate sounds good! Almonds and chocolate are one of my favorites. And it is SO hard to find a good salad dressing! There are hundreds of them out there and probably 95% of them are terrible.

  8. Hooray for finding both a delicious chocolate bar and a salad dressing that you could fully enjoy! Hope this week has been a wonderful one too! :)

  9. 100,000 Pages sounds like a lot; good luck with that challenge. I'll be following your progress. Are you going to read just about any genre, or something specific? What genres will you be tackling?

I love milk chocolate rather than dark chocolate; I find the latter too bitter for my taste, but this bar you talked about sounds great; a little salty and intriguing flavor.

I have a small knife that I use to cut fruits and small jobs; that's a favorite of mine, and I'm always using it, so I can understand why you would buy two of your favorite. :-)

    1. Thanks! I'm going to read a wide variety of genres; history, autobiography, memoir, Chick-lit, historical novels, contemporary novels. There aren't very many genres that I don't enjoy reading, and I hope to incorporate as many of them as possible during this project!

  10. I would love to return there every year late December early January after the Christmas rush. This bar looks delicious.
